Mars Tsunuki Japanese Spring

Mars Tsunuki Japanese Spring is a no age statement single malt from Tsunuki, Hombo Shuzo's distillery in Kagoshima prefecture on the southern tip of Kyushu, released at cask strength for the European market. The Japanese Spring name places this alongside a family of seasonal and market-specific expressions within the Mars range, and the Europe release format makes it more accessible to international specialist retailers than many of Tsunuki's domestic Japan-only bottlings.

Maturation is in Ex-Bourbon casks, the primary wood programme at Tsunuki, which over an undisclosed period in Kagoshima's warm and humid climate extracts vanilla, coconut and tropical fruit from the American oak. At 50% cask strength, the spirit retains full intensity without the rawness of higher proof releases. Where specific tasting notes are not listed, the typical Tsunuki house character in Ex-Bourbon casks shows fresh citrus, ripe fruit and a warm, rounded sweetness driven by the subtropical maturation conditions.
