Littlemill 33 Years Old 1988 Legends (Hart Brothers)

Hart Brothers has bottled single casks from Glasgow since the 1960s. This 33 year old Littlemill came off the stills in 1988 and was bottled in 2022, part of the Legends Collection series. A tiny outturn from a lost distillery, the kind of bottle collectors of closed Lowland malts chase hard.

From Oloroso, thirty-three years lend their character to Littlemill's grassy, honeyed make.

Bottled undiluted at 50.3%, the Oloroso lends raisin, fig and a nutty spice. Light and fragrant, the elegant Lowland signature throughout. Decades in sherry oxidise the spirit toward dried fruit, the cask's melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, its tannins as walnut. A quarter-century and more of angel's share has slowly lowered the strength, the humid warehouse favouring alcohol over water.
