Description
Murder Lane is the 13 Years Old rung of the Dublin Liberties ladder, named for the vanished alley whose reputation needs no explaining, and Batch 02 runs to 600 bottles for Europe. The malt is aged sourced stock, since the Mill Street distillery only fired its stills in 2019, finished and bottled under the Liberties name.
After maturing in ex-bourbon casks the whiskey moved to casks that held Tokaji, Hungary's storied sweet wine, a finish very few Irish whiskeys have seen. It reads as dried fruit, apricot and honey over leather, hay and malt extract, with fresh oak keeping the sweetness in check. Bottled at 46%, it is the most idiosyncratic of the aged Liberties releases, a sweet wine finish with plenty of old fashioned grip.
