Description
The Founders' Reserve 2020 is a Kingsbarns honouring the distillery's founding investors, a 3 year old from 2017, matured in ex-Bourbon and bottled undiluted. An outturn of 3,000 bottles, released for a festival. Kingsbarns is a Fife Lowland distillery founded by the Wemyss family in 2014, near St Andrews.
Housed in the old East Newhall Farm steading near St Andrews, the distillery makes a light, fruity, unpeated spirit on long-necked stills. Matured in ex-Bourbon, the wood frames a young malt from the 2017 fills.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 61.6%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin and coconut through oak lactones. The recorded note is a cooked vegetable edge over the young Lowland fruit. A founders' festival release.
