Description
Bell Rock is a Kingsbarns expression named for the famous lighthouse off the Angus coast, here a Cask Strength edition matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso. An outturn of 3,600 bottles. Kingsbarns, founded by the Wemyss family in 2014, is a Lowland distillery in the East Neuk of Fife.
The distillery sits in a restored Georgian farm steading near St Andrews, its long-necked stills making a light, fruity, unpeated spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the bourbon wood gives the base and the sherry a darker layer.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 61.1%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, while the Oloroso adds dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin. The sherried Bell Rock at full power, bright Fife fruit meeting dark sherry.
