Description

An Samhradh is the summer release of Kilchoman's Uniquely Islay Series, here an 8 year old from 2013 matured in a tequila cask, drawn from cask 483. An outturn of 246 bottles for Germany. Kilchoman, the island's only farm distillery, was founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.

Kilchoman malts its barley on site and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach rare in Scotch. Matured in a tequila cask, the agave wood lends an earthy, herbal note to the young peated spirit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 54.5%. The tequila cask gives an earthy, vegetal edge while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to chocolate and smoke. A tequila-matured summer single cask.
