Description
This Single Cask was released for Feis Ile 2010, the Islay festival, a 3 year old from 2007, cask 113. An outturn of 258 bottles, a young and powerful early festival release. Kilchoman, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, was the first new distillery on Islay in over 124 years.
Kilchoman malts its barley on site and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach rare in Scotch. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood frames the very young peated spirit.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 62.2%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla and citrus while peat phenols drive the smoke, the high strength sharpening both. A young, fierce early festival single cask.
