Description

This Port Cask Matured is a 3 year old from 2011, fully matured in Port wine casks, an early example of the distillery's full-Port maturations. An outturn of 6,000 bottles for Belgium. The Wills family's Kilchoman, founded in 2005, is the only farm distillery on Islay.

The distillery grows and malts barley on site and bottles on the farm. Matured in Port casks, the wine wood adds plum and cherry to the young peated spirit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 55%. The Port gives plum and cherry with a jammy sweetness while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to a sherried character, smoke, chocolate, dried fruit, fresh fruit and a nutty note. A young Port-matured farm malt.
