Description

This was Kilchoman's release for the Milano Whisky Festival 2012, a 5 year old ex-Bourbon single cask from 2007, cask 245. An outturn of 258 bottles for Italy. Kilchoman opened in 2005 as the first new Islay distillery in over a century, and is the island's only farm distillery.

The distillery grows and malts barley on site and bottles on the farm. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood frames the young peated spirit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.5%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to chocolate, a leafy note and a faint plastic edge. A young festival single cask for Milan.
