Description
This Machir Bay was bottled for Kilchoman's 10th Anniversary Tour in 2015, a cask strength ex-Bourbon version of the flagship marking a decade since the distillery's 2005 founding. Kilchoman is Islay's only farm distillery.
The distillery malts barley on site and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks and bottled undiluted, the wood frames the young peated spirit at full power.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 58.9%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla and citrus while peat phenols drive the smoke, the higher strength lifting both. A bolder, anniversary take on Machir Bay from a young Islay distillery.
