Description

This Kilchoman Germany is a Small Batch Release No. 1 for the German market, vatted from ex-Bourbon, Oloroso and Port casks. An outturn of 2,520 bottles. Founded by Anthony Wills in 2005 at Rockside Farm, Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay.

The distillery malts its own barley and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach. Matured across ex-Bourbon, Oloroso and Port casks, the three woods layer vanilla, dried fruit and a touch of plum.

Bottled at 48.9%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, the Port a plum note, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to smoke, vanilla, fresh fruit, a medicinal edge, a sherried character and chocolate. A market small batch for Germany.
