Kilchoman Belgium

This Kilchoman Belgium is a Small Batch Release No. 1 for the Belgian market, vatted from ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks. An outturn of 1,260 bottles. Anthony Wills founded Kilchoman in 2005; it is the only farm distillery on Islay.

The distillery malts on site and bottles on the farm, keeping the whole process in one place. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the bourbon wood gives the base and the sherry a darker layer.

Bottled at 48.9%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to smoke, cooked fruit, vanilla, citrus and chocolate. A market small batch for Belgium.
