Description

This An Geamhradh winter release of Kilchoman's Uniquely Islay Series is a 2012 single cask matured in an STR cask, a shaved, toasted and re-charred red wine barrel, drawn from cask 199. An outturn of 241 bottles for Germany. Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.

Kilchoman malts its barley on site and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach rare in Scotch. Matured in a single STR cask, the reworked wine wood gives a spicy, fruity character to the young peated spirit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%. The STR wood gives dark fruit and a toasted spice while peat phenols carry the smoke. A winter STR single cask from the seasonal series.
