Description
Kilbeggan Single Grain bottles the lighter side of Cooley on its own, column still whiskey from the Co. Louth distillery released under the name of the historic 1757 Kilbeggan site in Co. Westmeath. This bottling appeared in 2017 for the Belgian market at 43%, a step up in strength for the style.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it majors on fresh fruit and honey, ripe banana and soft toffee folded through a clean, sweet maize spirit. Grain whiskey like this carried Irish blends for a century without credit, and bottlings such as this one let its easy charm stand alone, gentle in texture with a light vanilla finish.
