Description
Powers 15 Years Old, marked Special, is a well aged blend from the John Power & Son house, bottled around 1971 for the Italian market at 43%. It carries the name of the John's Lane distillery on Thomas Street in Dublin, the 1791 Powers home that ran until 1976, and the long maturation reflects the fuller, spicier style that set Powers apart.
Fifteen years in ex-bourbon oak build barley sugar and vanilla into dried fruit and old wood, the pot still portion of the blend lending clove, ginger and an earthy, peppery grip. Softened by lighter grain whiskey, it keeps an old Dublin weight, a matured blend from a distillery now long closed.
