Description
The Tastival 2014 was Isle of Jura's release for the island's whisky festival, matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks. An outturn of 3,000 bottles, it was the first in an annual festival series. Jura's lone distillery sits on a remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 for a clean, light spirit unlike its Islay neighbours.
The distillery's light, clean spirit takes sherry well. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the bourbon wood gives the base and the sherry a dried-fruit layer.
Bottled at 44%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso fig and raisin from its melanoidins with a nutty edge. The recorded notes run to chocolate, citrus, dried fruit, a green leafy lift, a mossy earthiness and a nutty depth. A festival edition island malt.
