Isle of Jura French Oak

French Oak is part of Isle of Jura's Special Wood Series, the island malt finished in French oak for a spicier, more tannic character than American wood gives. Jura is the lone distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to revive the community.

The distillery's light, clean spirit shows a wood finish clearly. Finished in French oak, the tighter-grained wood adds spice and grip the bourbon base lacks.

Bottled at 42%. The French oak gives fresh, spicy tannins and a dry, toasted note over the malt's honeyed core. The recorded notes run to fresh oak, a nutty note, vanilla, chocolate, citrus and dried fruit. A spice-led cask-finish Jura.
