Description
Alistair Walker, of the family behind BenRiach and GlenAllachie, chose this 30 year old 1994 Isle of Jura for his Infrequent Flyers range, drawn from ex-Bourbon single cask 806889. An outturn of 221 bottles for Europe. Jura is the lone distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 for a light, Highland-style spirit.
The distillery's light, clean spirit rewards three decades in oak. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood deepens the honeyed malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 52%. The ex-Bourbon cask supplies vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and a toffee note from maltol. Three decades have layered waxy, honeyed fruit over polished oak. A long-matured Infrequent Flyers single cask.
