Isle of Jura 1984 George Orwell

This 19 year old was a commemorative George Orwell edition, distilled in 1984 and matured in Palo Cortado and Oloroso sherry. An outturn of 4,800 bottles, it honours the author who wrote his dystopian novel at Barnhill on Jura. The distillery is the lone producer on the remote Hebridean island.

Rebuilt in 1963 for a light, clean spirit, Jura takes sherry well. Matured in Palo Cortado and Oloroso casks, the two sherry styles layer nutty depth and dried fruit on the malt.

Bottled at 42%. The Palo Cortado gives a nutty, saline character, the Oloroso fig and raisin from its melanoidins. Sherried and richly nutty, a literary commemorative tied to the island's most famous resident. An earlier Orwell-themed Jura.
