Description
This 10 year old 2009 is the sister cask to Anam na h-Alba's other Jura bottling, drawn from ex-Bourbon single cask 700993. An outturn of 279 bottles for Germany, the two casks make an interesting pair to compare. Jura makes its malt at the island's sole distillery, rebuilt in 1963 to a deliberately light, Highland style.
The distillery's light, clean spirit shows brightly from a single cask. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask across ten years, the wood frames the young malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 58.1%. Vanilla and coconut come from the cask's vanillin and oak lactones. The recorded notes run to honey, a medicinal edge and a light solvent lift, the high strength showing a young, lively spirit. A sister single cask from the Soul of Scotland.
