Description
Malt, Grain & Cane bottled this Cooley single malt for the Singapore market in 2021, a small batch of 263 bottles drawn from 2002 vintage ex-bourbon barrels, eighteen years old and undiluted at 50.2%.
Long American oak maturation turns Cooley's double distilled Co. Louth spirit tropical, and this one leans into it: mango, ripe pineapple and candied citrus over honeyed malt and vanilla, with oak spice keeping the finish dry. Bottled at natural strength without a finishing cask, it is a straight, unedited look at mature Cooley, the style that made the distillery's aged stock a fixture on the Asian collectors circuit. The distillery, founded by John Teeling in 1987, broke the Midleton monopoly and quietly supplied the Irish whiskey revival that followed.
