Description
The 24 Years Old companion to Cadenhead's Belgian cask, bottled a year later in 2016 for Europe within the World Whiskies series. The barrel held Cooley malt, and its kippery, gently smoky profile points to the distillery's peated make, the same stock behind Connemara, Ireland's great peat exception.
From ex-bourbon wood at a natural 53.8%, the 198 bottles balance that soft smoke against citrus, honey and fresh fruit, with an oily texture carrying it long. Nearly a quarter century of age rounds the peat into something closer to sea air than bonfire, a rare chance to taste genuinely old smoky Irish malt.
