Description
Harahorn takes its name from the mythical horned rabbit of Norwegian folklore, and from a mountain prized for exceptional juniper. Made by Det Norske Brenneri in small batches, it is unusual in two ways: a rare potato-spirit base, and a foraged botanical bill of juniper, blueberries, rhubarb, bladderwrack seaweed, angelica and marjoram that roots it firmly in the Norwegian landscape. It took gold at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is fine and clear, juniper and citrus to the fore. The palate is fresh and pristine, with a creeping juniper, soft fruit and a lift of spice from the herbs and root. The finish is long and warming. Bottled at 46%, it works neat or stretched into a long drink with a slice of citrus.
