The bottler A.D. Rattray bottled this Glen Moray, a 9 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 5647, bottled at 56.8%, one of 308 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.

The spirit was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.

At a hearty 56.8% it carries real weight. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, honey and a creamy toffee fill the middle. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
