Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by Sexywhisky, an 8 year old, distilled in 2013, bottled at 54.6%, one of 30 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
Made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
At its natural 54.6% it is concentrated. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
