Description
An 8 year old Glen Moray from the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, distilled in 2009, from cask 7021403, bottled at 52%, one of 100 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. Maturation finished in an Oloroso cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way.
At cask strength 52% it is full bodied. Green apple, honey and a gentle oak, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
