A Glen Moray of an 8 year old chosen by the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, distilled in 2009, from cask 7021393, bottled at 52%, one of 98 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.

It was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

At cask strength 52% it is full bodied. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
