From the bottler Blackadder, a 31 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 1990, from cask 4563 (part), bottled at 51.5%, one of 24 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside malt from Elgin, the heart of the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.

It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Moray style. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and honey linger. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.

At a hearty 51.5% it carries real weight. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
