Glen Moray 25 Years Old 1992 (Authentic Collection)

From the Campbeltown house Cadenhead, a 25 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 1992, bottled at 46.2%, one of 216 bottles. Glen Moray, founded in 1897 in a former brewery, is one of Speyside's best loved malts. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.

Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried fruit, honey and a waxy depth over the apple. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore.

At 46.2% it is smooth and fruity. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
