This Glen Moray was bottled by R. W. Duthie and Co, a 25 year old, distilled in 1959, bottled at 46%, one of 240 bottles. Glen Moray is a fruity Speyside malt made on River Lossie water at Elgin. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

The spirit was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. It was finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood layered over the light malt. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend a drying structure while oxidation builds a richer, dried fruit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time.

At 46% it is smooth and fruity. Green apple, honey and a gentle oak, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
