Description
From the bottler Whiskykeller, a 15 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2007, bottled at 59.2%, one of 59 bottles. Glen Moray is a fruity Speyside malt made on River Lossie water at Elgin. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.
It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the apple turning honeyed and a soft dried fruit creeping in. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.
Bottled at a cask strength 59.2%, it is rich. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, honey and a creamy toffee fill the middle. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
