This Glen Moray was bottled by the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, a 14 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 7031746, bottled at 54.9%, one of 66 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.
The spirit was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.
At a hearty 54.9% it carries real weight. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Pear, honey and a creamy toffee fill the middle. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
