This Glen Moray was bottled by Detti e Spiriti, an 11 year old, distilled in 2007, bottled at 44%, one of 320 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

The spirit was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the body softer and the fruit riper. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice.

At 44% it is fresh, fruity and clean. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
