Description
From the bottler Blackadder, a 10 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2013, from cask 878, bottled at 63.4%, one of 334 bottles. Glen Moray is a fruity Speyside malt made on River Lossie water at Elgin. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and pear. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady.
At its natural 63.4% it is concentrated. Green apple, honey and a gentle oak, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
