This Italian Rose is Freixenet's Veneto sparkler, blending Glera with Pinot Noir, which supplies the colour and red fruit. The rose category within Prosecco DOC has grown quickly, and the wine follows the tank tradition, refermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and the style bright. The dosage is Extra Dry, giving a little rounding sweetness without tipping into a dessert style, and it is presented in a polished designer bottle.
The wine shows a delicate rose shimmer in the glass. The nose offers soft red fruit with apple, white peach and white flowers, while the palate is fruity and easy with a fine bead and a long, gently sweet finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass to keep the fruit fresh. It works as an aperitif and pairs happily with light starters, summer salads, lighter poultry and fresh, fruit-based desserts.
