Description
Ferrari, the Lunelli family's house in Trentino, is Italy's leading traditional-method producer, and Maximum Rose is its non-vintage sparkling rose. It is led by mountain-grown Pinot Nero, which gives the delicate colour and red fruit, with Chardonnay adding structure and freshness. The wine is made by the traditional method, refermented in bottle and rested on the lees, which builds a toasted, creamy background to the fruit, and it is finished dry at brut level.
The wine shows a delicate copper-pink with a fine, persistent bead. The nose leads with strawberry and raspberry over white peach and a toasted, doughy note, while the palate is fresh and creamy with bright Alpine acidity and a clean, long finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes an elegant aperitif and pairs with light poultry, white fish, pork and hard, nutty cheese.
