Description
A German independent release of Cooley single malt, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2013 at 11 Years Old by Alba Import for its The Ireland Trail series. Cooley, on the peninsula of the same name in Co. Louth, spent these years supplying much of the stock behind Europe's independent Irish bottlings, and vintage dated casks like this one map that story.
Maturation was in ex-bourbon barrels, and at 46% the whiskey shows what the double distilled Cooley spirit typically does in plain American oak: orchard fruit, honey, vanilla and fragrant citrus over clean malt. It is an honest, unfinished snapshot of turn of the millennium Cooley distillate, bottled for the German market.
