The Daily Dram, a Belgian independent label, released this Cooley as An Aingeal Dubh, The Dark Angel, in 2008: 1996 vintage single malt from Co. Louth, bottled at 11 Years Old in a run of 212 bottles for the Belgian market.

Matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 46%, it presents the Cooley house style in plain terms, typically orchard fruit, honey, vanilla and clean malt from the double distilled spirit. Late 2000s Continental bottlings like this helped introduce European drinkers to Irish single malt as a category worth taking seriously, and the Irish named angel wears its origins proudly.
