Description
Cadenhead's bottled this Cooley for its Whisky Shop London, drawing on 1992 distillate from the Co. Louth independent and releasing 198 bottles at 11 Years Old. Cooley malt was a favourite of independent bottlers through this era, one of the very few Irish stocks available outside the big houses.
From ex-bourbon wood and bottled at a cask strength 52.9%, it is a characterful cask: fresh fruit and a leafy greenhouse note run into an unexpected whiff of coal gas, an old fashioned, slightly industrial edge that fans of vintage Cooley will recognise. Undiluted and unpolished, it shows the raw material behind many better known Irish labels.
