Description

Cask number 1435 from Chichibu in Saitama was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2017 at 6 years old, directed to the Japanese domestic market as part of Venture Whisky's ongoing programme of individual single cask releases under founder Ichiro Akuto. The single cask arrives at cask strength.

The maturation is a single Ex-Bourbon cask, which at six years has built a light vanilla and cereal sweetness while allowing the distillery's character to come through. The noted flavour profile of leafy and sweaty character reflects an active, developing spirit that has accumulated some herbal and grassy notes alongside the cleaner orchard fruit typical of Chichibu. At 59.9%, the spirit is at full cask strength, presenting a well-defined Saitama single malt at a mid-development stage between youthful vibrancy and more settled maturity.
