Description

Distilled at Chichibu in Saitama in 2009 and bottled six years later in 2015, this single cask expression was released for the Japanese market through Number One Drinks Company, the specialist importer long associated with bringing Chichibu to broader attention. It is one of many domestic-market single casks from the 2009 vintage that documented the developing character of Ichiro Akuto's Saitama distillery.

Six years in Ex-Bourbon wood is enough to round the new make's natural fruit brightness into vanilla-touched apple and gentle cereal, the typical profile of a young Chichibu from bourbon maturation. At 62.1% cask strength the spirit is energetic and direct, with the light waxy texture that Ex-Bourbon casks tend to impart in Japanese climate conditions.
