Description

The IPA Cask Finish is among the more adventurous releases in Chichibu's cask programme, beginning in Ex-Bourbon barrels before finishing in casks that previously held India Pale Ale, a choice that sits comfortably with Ichiro Akuto's long-standing connections to Japanese craft brewing culture. Bottled in 2017 at 57.5% cask strength, it is a NAS global release from the Saitama distillery.

The recorded flavour data tells the story of the finish clearly: fresh fruit, citrus, a husky grain note, new wood, and yeasty depth, with a slightly solvent edge that is characteristic of young spirit in active wood. The IPA cask contributes hop-derived bitterness and a resinous brightness over the bourbon base's vanilla. It is an uncompromising, unconventional bottling that reflects the experimental spirit of the Venture Whisky operation.
