Chichibu Ichiro's Malt Majyo 5 Years Old 2008 is a single malt distilled in the opening year of Venture Whisky's Chichibu distillery in Saitama and bottled in 2014 at 62% cask strength, drawn from a single Ex-Bourbon cask for the Japanese market. The name Majyo, meaning witch or sorceress in Japanese, is one of several evocative titles Chichibu applied to individual cask releases in its early years for the domestic market.

Five years in Ex-Bourbon oak gives the spirit a working foundation of vanilla and light caramel while leaving Chichibu's energetic and fruit-forward new make still prominent in the profile. The high cask strength at 62% reflects the minimal water loss over a relatively short maturation period in Saitama's inland climate, and the single-cask format captures the individual character of one barrel at this mid-maturation moment from the founding vintage.
