Description
Chichibu for Kinokuniya 6 Years Old 2008 is a single malt distilled in Chichibu's opening year and bottled in 2015 at 62% cask strength, drawn from a single Ex-Bourbon cask as a limited release for the Japanese retailer Kinokuniya. Produced by Venture Whisky at the Chichibu distillery in Saitama, this six-year expression sits in the distillery's mid-maturation arc for 2008 vintage releases, between the three-year early bottlings and the decade-long Malt Dream Cask series.
Six years in Ex-Bourbon oak at Chichibu develops the vanilla and orchard-fruit base of the house style while keeping the spirit's youthful energy and vibrant new make character still very much present. The 62% cask strength is typical of short-to-medium single-barrel maturation with limited evaporative dilution, and the Kinokuniya release format placed this firmly within Japan's dedicated specialist retail network.
