Cask #2089 from Chichibu's 2012 vintage was selected by The Whisky Exchange and bottled in 2019 after seven years in Ex-Bourbon wood, as a single-cask release for the UK market. The Saitama distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto under Venture Whisky in 2008, has established a consistent practice of allocating individual casks to specialist retailers worldwide.

The hay-like quality noted in the flavour profile reflects the fresh, grain-forward character that Ex-Bourbon wood encourages in Chichibu's unpeated spirit at this age, with a honeyed underlay and cereal brightness adding depth. At 60.8% and drawn directly from a single barrel, the whisky is bold and unfiltered, offering a precise view of the 2012 vintage as it had developed by its seventh year.
