Description

Cask number 641, distilled at Chichibu in Saitama in 2009 and bottled five years later in 2014, was selected only for La Maison du Whisky in France, one of the international partners that helped build Chichibu's early reputation outside Japan. Venture Whisky under Ichiro Akuto was already developing a programme of market-specific single casks by this point in the distillery's history.

Five years in Ex-Bourbon wood brings vanilla, fresh citrus peel and light apple over the distillery's naturally fruit-forward new make, a profile typical of Chichibu bourbon-cask maturation at this age. At 61.7% cask strength the spirit carries the directness and texture that make young Chichibu single casks interesting to follow across vintages and markets.
