Description

Cask number 3303 from Chichibu's Saitama distillery was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2015 at just 4 years old for La Maison du Whisky in France. These early releases from Venture Whisky and founder Ichiro Akuto reflect the distillery's willingness to bottle its spirit young, presenting an honest picture of what the new make looks like with limited wood time.

The maturation is a single Ex-Bourbon cask, and the noted flavour of honey sits comfortably alongside the vanilla and soft grain sweetness typical of four years in American oak. Chichibu's new make is notably vibrant and fruit-forward, and at this young age the cask brings sweetness and approachability rather than deep complexity. At 59.5% cask strength, the bottling is lively and direct, showing the Saitama distillery's character clearly.
