Description
Casa Vinicola Canella works out of San Donà di Piave, and this millesimato comes from the Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG, the historic heart of quality Prosecco. It is made by the Charmat method, with a second fermentation in pressurised tank rather than in bottle, a route that keeps the Glera grape's fresh, floral character intact. The Brut dosage leaves the wine dry, letting the natural acidity and orchard fruit carry the palate.
The colour is pale straw with green tints, and the mousse is fine and steady. The nose gives green apple, pear and a touch of white peach, framed by white flowers and a faint almond note on the close. The palate is crisp and light bodied, with clean citrus acidity and a soft, dry finish. Serve well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass, as an aperitif or alongside seafood and light salads.
