Description
This is the white expression of Bottega's STAR range, a Prosecco Spumante made from Glera grown across the Veneto. Bottega uses the Charmat method, refermenting in pressurised tank to keep the grape's fresh, floral aromatics to the fore rather than building autolytic weight. The Brut dosage leaves the wine dry, and the modest 9.5 per cent alcohol makes it an easy, light aperitif style.
The colour is pale straw with a fine, persistent bead. The nose gives green apple, pear and white peach, with white flowers and a light almond note. On the palate it is crisp and light bodied, with clean citrus acidity and a soft, dry finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass as an aperitif, or with seafood, light salads and fresh cheeses.
