Description
MIABI is Bottega's Pinot Nero spumante, a Vino Spumante made from the black grape pressed pale so that it ferments as a white wine. Bottega uses the Charmat method, refermenting in pressurised tank to keep the wine fresh and its aromatics primary. The Brut dosage finishes it dry, and vinifying a red grape as a white gives a slightly firmer, more structured take on tank-method fizz.
The colour is pale straw with a fine, persistent bead. The nose gives green apple, pear and white flowers, with a faint red-currant note that hints at the grape, and a touch of almond. The palate is crisp and light to medium bodied, with clean acidity and a dry finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass as an aperitif, or with seafood, white fish and light starters.
